The Slides of Jocassee – A New Attraction

In an effort to attract more visitors to the Upstate area, the SC Department of Lakes, Rivers, and Dams will create the state’s longest waterslide, at over 400 feet long, using the current Jocassee Dam.

“The popularity of Lake Jocassee has been undeniable,” says spokesperson Amy Baker, “but this new attraction will bring a whole new audience to the lake. As seen in this rendering, families will be able to enjoy a day at the lake coupled with a whole lot of fun.”

“Our research shows that the new Slides of Jocassee will not only be the longest slide in the state, but the tallest in all of America, surpassing The Rise of Icarus at Mt. Olympus Water Park, which is only 145 feet. We look forward to many people visiting our state to experience the thrill of the Slides of Jocassee,” says Ms. Baker.

Three new slides will be installed, along with raft rentals, in preparation for the summer of 2026. Additionally, 200 parking spots will be added near the dam, along with concessions, a pavilion, and a bathhouse. The Slides of Jocassee will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Funding for this project is possible because today is April 1. Happy April Fools’ Day!
