Come visit the Ruth Drake Museum of Local History, the SC Tennis Hall of Fame and the North End Exhibition Gallery, all located inside the historic Southern and Blue Ridge Combined Railroad Depot on the square in Belton, SC. This 1908 train depot showcases Belton and upstate history, memorabilia from SC’s tennis greats, and an exhibit gallery for rotating historical topics.
The Ruth Drake Museum is stocked with pioneer artifacts, train relics, 19th Century domestic items and agricultural implements. Be entertained by our robotic train conductor as he tells stories about our rich railroad history. Type on a 1940’s Royal used to create the Belton High Warrior put a handwritten note in our 1853 post office, or research your roots in our extensive genealogy collection.
The SC Tennis Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of SC's famous tennis stars. Mementos are on display from the inductees including such outstanding players as Dennis Van der Meer and Stan Smith, both Wimbledon contenders. All of the portraits are painted by internationally acclaimed artist Wayland Moore, a Belton native.The North End Exhibition Gallery promotes traveling collections and quarterly exhibits of interesting artifacts. Featured are historic and personal memorabilia of community members on various topics of interest to visitors.
The museum holds an Antique Show and Sale and Heritage Days at the Depot, both annual events. The Train Depot has space available for meetings and event rentals as well.
