Founded in 2007, the Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) highlights the rich history of African Americans in the city of Clemson and the greater Pickens County. CAAAM is located at the Calhoun Bridge Center, the site of the former Calhoun Colored School and the Morrison Elementary Annex. The only museum in Pickens County exclusively focused on the history of African Americans, CAAAM’s mission is to collect and preserve the local history of African Americans and engage the Clemson community with this history through exhibits, relevant programming, and other culturally relevant events.
