Wofford College Arboretum
Spartanburg, SC 29303
The arboretum encompasses the entire 150-acre campus that has been planted with more than 5,000 trees since 1992; some 3,000 of those have been mapped for three self-guided tours that are open throughout the year. A virtual tour can be accessed through the arboretum's website. Wofford College and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System have connected their campuses by the Liberty Trail, which has been designated has part of the Hub City Connector, a 12-mile trail that runs through Spartanburg and is part of South Carolina's Palmetto Trail. Maps are located at a kiosk outside the Admissions Office; the Hugh R. Black Building.
This truly world-class horticultural display helps promote environmental consciousness, educate the community and heighten awareness of the importance of trees in a rapidly developing urban world.
