Apple Season is quickly approaching farm stands in the Upcountry! Starting in early August with certain apple varieties through November, join us in our hunt for the best farms and orchards to choose from across our counties.
Oconee County:
- Chattooga Belle Farm – Location: 454 Damascus Church Rd., Long Creek, SC. The farm has a variety of produce throughout the seasons including apples and peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, concord table grapes, and blueberries. They also have a variety of exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
- Ables Orchard – Location: 14161 Hwy 76, Long Creek, SC 29658. Hours: July – November. Monday – Thursday 9 am – 5 pm, Friday – Sunday 9 am – 6 pm. Gala apples can be found here through the end of August. In September, find Granny Smiths, Red & Golden Delicious, and Matsu, along with peach salsa, chow chow, honey, and roasted nuts.
- Blue Haven Orchard – Location: 12508 Long Creek Hwy, Long Creek, SC 29658. Hours: Open daily during the season, 864-647-2855. Apple season starts in September at this farm, including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Golden Supreme, and Stamens varieties. Don’t miss canned goods, homemade apple fritters, and refreshing fruit slushies.
- Bryson’s Apple Orchard – Location: 1011 Chattooga Ridge Rd., Mountain Rest, SC. Hours: Late July-September Daily, (9 am – 6 pm). Their farm stand has apple sales open from August 15 through the middle of October. They have picnic tables available for those who want to bring a picnic lunch. Other products include local jams and jellies, freshly pressed cider, canned goods, honey from their bees, sorghum syrup, and local vegetables.
- Hollifield’s Orchard – Location: 161 Hollifield Lane, Westminster, SC 29693. Hours: Open daily during the season. This 4th generation, family-owned orchard includes a fresh roadside market that features in-season apples, peaches, and vegetables. Apple varieties include Ozark gold, Wolf River, and Gala. Find apple cider vinegar and apple butter there too!
- Bonus – Don’t miss the annual SC Apple Festival, September 6th-7th, 2024 in downtown Westminster, SC. The SC Apple Festival began in 1961 as a way to showcase and honor local apple growers. This festival kicks off the beginning of the apple harvest season. Don’t miss an apple baking contest, parade, live music, the Westminster Championship Rodeo, & more!
Greenville County:
- MacGregor Orchard – Location: 2400 SC Hwy. 11, Travelers Rest, SC. Hours: Open June-November, Tues. – Sat. from (9 am – 6 pm) and Sun. (11 am to 5 pm). Pick up some fresh apples and try their orchard products like apple butter, pressed apple cider, Fancy Fruit Preserves, and apple sauce. This is a family-owned 20-acre fruit farm, offering 11 different types of fruits that start ripening in mid-June through late November. You can find peaches, nectarines, apples, plums, pears, muscadines, apricots, figs, oriental persimmons, and more!
Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties:
- Abbott Farms – Location: Three based in Gaffney, Spartanburg, and Cowpens. Hours: Gaffney & Cowpens – Mon-Sat (8 am – 6 pm), Sun (Closed); Spartanburg – Mon-Sat (8 am – 5 pm), Sun (Closed). They start picking apples for sale in their roadside stores in early Sept., and this lasts until Nov. – Dec. During the year, you can also find tree-ripened peaches, strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, muscadines, and sweet potatoes. Don’t miss other homemade goods like peanuts (boiled and roasted), jams & jellies, pickles, salsas (their peach salsa is amazing!), local honey, and homemade ice cream.
- Peach Country – Location: 13891 Highway 11, Campobello, SC 29322. Hours: Apr. – Nov., Mon-Sun (9 am – 5:30 pm). This farm stand offers a variety of produce including strawberries, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, apples, pears, scuppernongs, and various seasonal vegetables. Apples & pears ripen Sept 20th-Nov. 15th.
