In early 2024, “USA Today’s 10 Best” named Gather GVL 5th place as one of the Best Food Halls in the Country. It’s no wonder why with ten mouth-watering cuisines to suit every palette, plenty of family-friendly space, and beer and wine (along with cocktails and non-alcoholic options), there’s something for everyone! Let us take you on a tour of this food gathering space in the Upcountry.
The Originals:
- HenDough – Artisan donuts, fried chicken, and biscuits! This donut and fried chicken restaurant originally started in Hendersonville and has become a Greenville favorite. Look out for their new restaurant coming soon to the old Oak Hill Cafe & Farm location called HeyDay Sandwiches & Cocktails.
- KO Burger – Classic smash burgers, fries, and hot dogs… the old-school way. Order your burgers and dogs through the HenDough window and pick them up next door at KO Burger!
- Mercado Cantina – Inspired by Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, this restaurant takes a refreshing approach to Mexican cuisine. It features a rotating menu from Michael Olbrantz of KO Restaurant Group. You can also find great mocktails, margaritas, other fun cocktails, and Mexican beers here.
- Cocobowlz Gvl – Greenville’s Açaí Shop! What started as a food truck in 2018 has grown to over 10 storefronts throughout the Upcountry. They serve Açaí fruit bowls with multiple fruit-forward and fun dessert toppings along with smoothies.
The Newcomers:
- Yolo Pizza Kitchen – Mouth-watering pizzas, flavor-packed appetizers, and unique salads. You Only Live Once! Don’t forget to grab a root beer float or a caramel or fudge sundae in the heat of the summer.
- Cafe Zorba – Savor the rich and diverse flavors of Greece with their signature dishes! From dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), hummus, and lamb gyro wraps, enjoy a trip to the Mediterranean without ever leaving home.
- Mama Mozzarella – This fresh take on an Italian deli concept mixes classic sandwiches like “Mama’s Chopped Cheese” with new school eats, like their take on an “Italian Caprese BLT” – 1/4 lb. bacon, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, and garlic aioli. Don’t miss fun apps like the Toasted Ravioli, Fried Zucchini, and Mac & Cheese Bites.
- The Big Rinkowski – A cross between European pub food and New Jersey Boardwalk-inspired staples. From huge cheesesteaks to Polish Pierogies, Irish Rueben sandwiches, Bratwurst with sauerkraut and Italian Sausage Hoagies, Cheese Curds, and the New Jersey boardwalk staple – Pork Roll & Cheese.
Seafood:
- The Lob Father – Maine comes to Greenville with fresh, luscious lobster rolls. They make it classically – Maine Style, warm with butter, and Connecticut style, more like a lobster salad with mayonnaise, lemon juice, and chives. Don’t miss all their other “lobstah” dishes too! This is the place if you want lobster but don’t want to hop on a plane to get it.
- Palmetto Seafood Co. – Their claim to fame is a build-your-own seafood boil! Choose from crab legs, sausage, shrimp, boiled eggs, corn, and red potatoes, generously coated with their house-made garlic butter sauce. They also serve Cod and Flounder fish & chips, crispy fried shrimp, hush puppies, and Old Bay fries for the full coastal experience.
- Saki Saki – From sushi to Saki, hibachi to gyoza, you’ll find a myriad of great Japanese cuisine options here at Saki Saki! This has been one of the staple restaurants of Gather GVL since it opened.
Drink Options:
- Greenville Beer Exchange – Gather GVL’s craft beer hub! With 20 rotating taps, hard ciders, hard seltzers, gluten-free beers, and craft sodas, this is the place to grab your brews in Gather!
- Juice Box Wine Bar – Juice Box is the official wine bar at Gather GVL, serving wines by the glass and flight, mimosas, and Frosé slushies.
With options like these, it’s no wonder why Gather GVL was named “USA Today’s 10 Best’s” 5th Best Food Hall in the Country. Check out this other great article on A Night Out in the Upcountry for more great restaurants and entertainment in our area.
