“Where the Mountains Begin” is where you will find Pickens, a beautiful, historic small town that is tucked in the foothills of the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Bee Well Honey Natural Market
Bee Well Honey Natural Market is a must-visit spot in Pickens where you can grab a coffee, an authentic NY bagel and shop for local honey all under the same roof.
Doodle Park and Doodle Trail
Wanna ride a bike? Visit Pickens Doodle Park which features a train-themed playground, and the Doodle Trail—a 7.5-mile multi-use trail that goes to Easley. It is open for walking, running, biking, and rollerblading from dusk to dawn. You can cool off with a shaved ice treat afterward from nearby Pedal n Shak.
Pickens Bargain Exchange Flea Market
For thrifting and antiquing, stop by Pickens Bargain Exchange Flea Market (only open on Wednesdays), where you can find unique, one-of-a-kind treasures to bring back home. Get there early for the best bargain hunt. There are also a number of food vendors located in the middle of the flea market for when you need to stop and take a break.
The Market at the Mill
The Market at the Mill is another great shopping option with over 150 shops inside a renovated industrial mill. You can find anything from handmade crafts, jewelry, antiques, vinyl records, clothing, and even a bite to eat.
Hagood Mill Historic Site
For a bit of history, visit Hagood Mill Historic Site which features a fully operational, water-powered gristmill that James Hagood built in 1845. You can wander through the restored log cabins, a blacksmith shop, a moonshine still, a cotton gin, and a gift shop on site. You can watch the Hagood Mill in action and purchase freshly ground grits every third Saturday. You can even rent discs from the gift shop and play disc golf on Hagood Mill’s 9-hole disc golf course during daylight hours.
Table Rock State Park
For a bit of adventure, head to Table Rock State Park in northern Pickens along Highway 11, where you can hike to the top of Table Rock Mountain. You can also rent a kayak from the park’s visitor center and explore Lake Pinnacle, located within the property. After working up an appetite, you can stop at nearby Aunt Sue’s Country Corner for a bite to eat.
