We have plenty of waterfalls in the Upcountry. You’ll find over 65 at SouthCarolinaWaterfalls.com, complete with photos, driving, and hiking directions. Yes, some require hiking. Like 2 hours each way hiking, if that’s your thing. But this is the Easy Walk to No Hike Waterfall List!
Here is a 175-mile loop starting and ending in Greenville that features 6 gorgeous waterfalls, none of which requires more than a ¾-mile walk to reach. Most are much closer. You can certainly complete this in a day, with stops for lunch and dinner. If you want to add in some side trips to see Campbell’s Covered Bridge, Caesar’s Head State Park, or more waterfalls, make it a 2-day adventure.
THE ROUTE
Start in Greenville. Head North on US Hwy 276, then left on SC11. Wildcat Wayside Falls can be viewed by everyone, as it is located along Highway 11. This 30-foot waterfall is the last in a series of three formed by the Wildcat stream.
Continue on SC11 until you turn off onto Cleo Chapman Road to reach Twin Falls. The 70 feet of bare granite and rushing waterfalls make this a beautiful sight. It’s a fine show for an easy 15-minute walk along the 1/4-mile trail, which leads to a viewing deck with seating.
You are back on SC11 until you turn on SC130 to head to Spoonauger Falls. This 50-foot falls, also known as Rock Cliff Falls, is set back into a hillside and rushes over a stepped rock face in a broad sheet. This is one of the more popular waterfalls in this area because of the easy 20-minute hike and its camera-friendly appearance.
Head South on SC107 to reach Issaqueena Falls, located in Stumphouse Park. (Admission Fee) A well-maintained trail leads to a platform for viewing this 100-foot cascade of Cane Creek. Nearby is a picnic area and Stumphouse Tunnel, which is 25 feet high and 17 feet wide. Although it was not completed as a railroad tunnel, it extends 1,617 feet into the mountain. Don’t miss walking into it!
Take US Hwy 76 to Chau Ram County Park, located at the confluence of the Chauga River and Ramsey Creek. Visitors can enjoy hiking and biking trails, go tubing or fishing on the river, camp, and enjoy the 40-foot waterfall and the suspension bridge over the river.
Take Hwy 123 into Greenville. In the heart of downtown, Reedy River Falls is surrounded by Falls Park and best viewed from Liberty Bridge, a one-of-a-kind suspension bridge that offers amazing photo opportunities.
